2021 - 2022 - Secured over $5 Million in Neighborhood Safety Improvements for Maryvale, including the creation of a safety corridor along 27th Ave., traffic cameras, additional public safety officers, and more than 30 street lamps in areas identified as high-crime and low-visibility.
2014 - leaders helped secure passage of legislation to stop the sex- trafficking of minors, also landmark model legislation.
1998 - Neighborhood safety concerns prompted VIP to set up the Immigrant Families Association. Local leaders brought pressure on the City to clean up the area around 24th Street and Broadway. Leaders from St. Agnes and Creighton Elementary heldneighborhood walks with the Chief of Police to identify crime "hotspots.”

Secured $1.6 million for a community center in South Phoenix, the El Reposo Multi-Generational Center.
Encouraged the City of Phoenix to fight gang violence by designating the first drug free zones around schools, a practice that is now routinely done in several Valley communities.
Collaborated with state and local officials to end illegal dumping and incineration of oil waste in a South Phoenix low income neighborhood.
