500 Faith and Civic Leaders to Launch Shared Human Dignity Agenda
Over the past year, VIP leaders invested thousands of hours into listening to the cries of our people. We have held thousands of conversations in schools, congregations, and other civic organizations aimed at understanding the economic, social, and political pressures affecting everyday residents of our County. Every person had a story. For some it was choosing between healthcare and groceries, for others it was finding a living-wage job or dealing with shootings on their block.In response, VIP is bringing together over 500 Faith and Civic Leaders on October 8th to unite behind the shared stories of our people and build a voice that spans race, party, language and religion to put the everyday issues affecting our communities at the front and center of politics ahead of the Midterms.
In a time when the world feels increasingly charged and divisive, this work is a challenge to build a constituency capable of reclaiming the common good and the public square. We will shine a spotlight on the profound pain that is present in our communities and secure commitments from the political and business leaders to work together to address them. In doing so, this work affirms that democracy is sustained through ongoing civic organizaiton, participation, and shared responsibility.
